Mokhada is a predominantly hilly taluka in northern Palghar surrounded by the Sahyadri ranges. The region is characterized by forests, valleys, seasonal waterfalls, streams and tribal villages. Its elevated terrain provides cooler conditions than the coastal belt and makes the area attractive for monsoon tourism, trekking and nature exploration.
