Arnala Fort is a major coastal fort near Arnala village in Vasai taluka. Also known as Jaldurg or Janjire Arnala, the fort was built in the early 16th century and subsequently came under Mughal, Maratha, Portuguese and Peshwa control. Its rectangular fortification, bastions, temples and water resources remain important heritage features.
